Building types

Citadel

A citadel provides ground combat defensive bonus for the planetary population and any defending legions. The bonus depends on the quality of ore the citadel was built from. A citadel adds one slot to the number of legions the planet may support. For non military, non admin planets, this number is originally zero, meaning that one home guard legion may be trained. A home guard legion may not equip any guild controlled weaponry.

You may discover planets with citadels built by ancient civilisations. These citadels also count as archaeological sites, however, they gain neither security nor network bonus for the system.

The populations of a planet with a (functional) citadel is much less inclined to rioting.

Required: Ore

Bonus: Planetary defense, System military infrastructure, System security, System network

Minor bonus: System prestige

Monument

A monument provides morale bonus for the population of the planet and any defending legions. This bonus is effective in ground combat. It also boosts the morale of the entire system, making population less inclined to rioting.

Minor bonus: System prestige, System public infrastructure

Monastery

A monastery boosts the piety of the system. The required rank in The Holy Church for building monasteries is V (5). A monastery may only be built on agricultural, mining, or indigenous planets. After the monastery has been built, the planet may no longer be reformed to any other class but agricultural and mining.

Required: Minor relic

Bonus: System prestige, System piety

Minor bonus: System public infrastructure

A cathedral boosts the piety of the system. The required rank in The Holy Church for building monasteries is X (10).
